Carleton’s La Virée festival:
An immersion in the living heritage of Quebec
Take the pulse of the Gaspé, Acadian and Quebec cultural identity
during the La Virée festival in Carleton-sur-Mer, Quebec.
For nineteen years, the La Virée festival has been promoting and disseminating cultural practices stemming from the Quebec tradition with a traditional dance vigil, traditional song and music performances, a public market with more than sixty artisans and producers from the Gaspé , an evening of storytelling, a tent of old crafts, numerous workshops facilitating contact between artists and festival-goers, a program for young audiences, etc. Often enjoying the benefits of Indian summer in the heart of Baie-des-Chaleurs, we experience the La Virée festivalin a colorful autumnal environment, between sea and mountains!
Intergenerational event par excellence, the La Virée festival is a bit like a popular university where it is possible to hear and exchange with traditional bearers from here and elsewhere, high-level artists, essential models in the advancement of our cultural heritage.
